Too much music, too little time
Something for everyone, musically speaking, over the next few days in Ann Arbor. Detroit's own Blanche play its own twisted blend of country tomorrow night (Sat.) at the Ark, then this Sunday at the Ark it's the great roots rocker Dave Alvin, followed on Monday by country/bluegrass/jazz vocalist Robinella.
If you're any kind of Beatles fan, I do recommend you pick up a copy of the new book "Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of The Beatles," by Geoff Emerick. Geoff was all of 15 when he started as an assistant engineer at Abbey Road studios, later becoming a full engineer for such classics as "Revolver" and "Sgt. Pepper's. Even if you're a Beatles obsessive (like me), you'll read all sorts of new facts about the recording of some of pop music's most important and enduring albums.
