This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll have a tribute to music titan Quincy Jones, who died on Sunday at the age of 91. Winner of 28 (!) Grammys, Jones was a musical genius who did everything to perfection: he played trumpet, led bands, composed film & tv soundtracks, produced and arranged tunes for everyone from Frank Sinatra to Lesley Gore to Michael Jackson, and started his own label Qwest Records, whose roster included Lena Horne and New Order! Also in the mix will be a 71st birthday tribute to XTC's Andy Partridge, tunes form Madison Cunningham & Andrew Bird's new collaboration "Cunningham Bird," plus songs by Peter Case, who's featured in the new film documentary "Peter Case: A Million Miles Away." I'll be hosting a free screening of the film next Wednesday, Nov. 13th at the Chelsea District Library. Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. on ann arbor's 107one.
