Fine Tuning preview: 10/1/17

This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "This Sweet Old World," Lucinda Williams' new re-recording of all the songs contained on her 1992 classic "Sweet Old World." Lucinda also includes four songs not on the original album. Also in the mix will be new music from Charlotte Gainsbourg, Hiss Golden Messenger, Courtney Barnett with Kurt Vile, plus a whole lotta Paul McCartney tunes in honor of his shows this Sunday and Monday at Little Caesars Arena. Fine Tuning preview: 9/17/17

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "Sleep Well Beast," the powerful new album by the National. Also in the mix will be tracks from Wire (playing at the El Club in Detroit on Sunday), Steve Earle (in concert at the Fillmore next Thursday), and Bob Dylan (just booked for a show with special guest Mavis Staples at the Fox on Nov. 1). This Sunday in the the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "American Dream," the first album in seven years by LCD Soundsystem, the electronic rock band led by James Murphy. I'll also pay tribute to Steely Dan co-founder Walter Becker, who died on Sept. 3 at the age of 67. Also in the mix will be new music from the National, St. Vincent, Jackie Greene and Neil Young. Fine Tuning preview: 9/3/17

This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "Greatest Hits Live," by Steve Winwood. In all these years as a solo artist (about four decades!), the legendary British musician has never released a live album until now. "G/H Live" is a highly satisfying trip through Winwood's entire career, including new versions of Traffic, Blind Faith and Spencer Davis Group tunes, plus work from his extensive solo catalogue.
