Fine Tuning preview: 7/15/18

On a extra-busy Fine Tuning this Sunday I'll be featuring the exquisite new album from Ray Davies, leader of the Kinks --- "Our Country: Americana Act II." Ray says, “'Our Country' follows my journey across America; through endless tours not just to reclaim the Kinks’ career, but to rediscover the country that offered me my earliest inspirations.” Also the mix on Fine Tuning will be an interview I taped recently with Britt Daniel, leader of Spoon. That plus a Ron Asheton birthday tribute (the late, great guitarist of the Stooges would've been turning 70 next week) and a previously unreleased song by Tom Petty. Fine Tuning: 4 - 6 p.m. Sundays on ann arbor's 107one.

Fine Tuning preview: 7/8/18

After a week's vacation I'm back in action this Sunday on Fine Tuning! In the album spotlight will be "In A Poem Unlimited" by U.S. Girls, the recording alias of Canadian-American singer-songwriter Meghan Remy. Pitchfork calls the album "a righteous collection of razor-sharp songs, full of spit and fury, a high-water mark for political pop music."
Also in the mix will be new songs by Sunflower Bean (playing at Sonic Lunch next Thursday), Sue Foley, Dawes and The Record Company. Fine Tuning: 4 - 6 p.m. Sundays on ann arbor's 107one.
