Stephen & Pat rocked the house!

What a treat to have both Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers AND the Pat McGee Band at our station yesterday for a live, Studio A2 performance! It was quite the pleasant surprise to see young guitar wizard Kyle Riabko playing in Stephen's band - he's filling in for a few weeks while regular guitar Chris Soucy reuperates from minor surgery.

My 7am music mix tomorrow will feature The Ragbirds out of Ypsilanti - they're playing a CD release party this SAturday at the Blind Pig. I'll also feature Madeleine Peyroux's haunting version of the Leonard Cohen song "Dance Me To The End Of Love."

Lots of incredible live music tonight in Ann Arbor, with the California Guitar Trio performing at the Ark and Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers with the Pat McGee Band at the Blind Pig.
Pat McGee will be performing live on Ann Arbor's 107one this afternoon around 1-2pm. We also hope to tape Stephen Kellogg playing a few tunes, which I'll air on my program tomorrow morning.

Currently grooving to the beautiful new single by Ben Harper, "Better Way," from his upcoming double-disc set "Both Sides of the Gun," and the new CD "Leaders of the Free World," by British rock band Elbow.

Tomorrow at 7am in the Morning Mix I'll feature a song from the new self-titled CD by the Little Willies, featuring Norah Jones.

Cheers,

Martin

Tomorrow in my Morning Mix I'll feature a stunning version of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," as done by the California Guitar Trio. The group plays tomorrow night at 8pm at The Ark.

Wednesday, 2/15 update

I invite one and all to come see Duncan Sheik at the downtown Ann Arbor Border's tomorrow! I'll be joining Duncan for a live, Acoustic Lunch performance and interview starting at 12:30pm. I'm really looking forward to talking to Duncan about his fantastic new CD White Limousine, which also comes with an intriguing DVD where you can re-mix all the songs yourself. If you can't make it to Border's, make sure you're tuned to Ann Arbor's 107one, because we'll be broadcasting live.

On tomorrow's morning mix at 7am I'll be playing new songs from Van Morrison and Steely Dan's Donald Fagen. The Morrison tune is from his forthcoming country & western influenced CD Pay the Devil, while the Fagen tune is from his upcoming release Morph The Cat.

During the Life In Ann Arbor segment tomorrow at 7:20am we'll give away a 4-pack of tickets to see Ishangi's Africa, a family-oriented performance of traditional African music, dance and storytelling, coming to the Michigan Theaeter this Sunday at 1:30pm.

Cheers,

Martin
