Fine Tuning preview: 4/1/18

This Sunday on Fine Tuning in the album spotlight I'll be featuring Sunflower Bean's "Twentytwo in Blue," the second studio release from this up-and-coming Brooklyn, New York trio. Also in the mix will be tunes from the English Beat and Wilco (the English Beat play at the Ark next Tuesday and Wilco's Jeff Tweedy performs at the Royal Oak Music Theatre next Thursday), plus the latest from Yo La Tengo and Amen Dunes. This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring Michigan native Bettye Lavette and her thrilling new Bob Dylan covers album "Things Have Changed." A vocalist with few peers, Bettye's new album features special guests Keith Richards and Trombone Shorty. Also in the mix will be new music from indie-rockers Sunflower Bean and Amen Dunes. Fine Tuning preview: 3/18/18

This Sunday on Fine Tuning in the album spotlight I'll be featuring "Tearing at the Seams," the soulful new release from blues-rockers Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats. Also in the mix will be new music by Sunflower Bean and David Byrne, plus birthday tributes to Nick Lowe and the late Vivian Stanshall, a founding member of the Bonzo Dog Band. Fine Tuning preview: 3/11/18

This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "All Nerve," the new release from the American alt-rock quartet the Breeders. "All Nerve" reunites the same four band members who recorded the classic 1993 "Last Splash" album that contained the hit single "Cannonball" --- Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim MacPherson. Fine Tuning preview: 3/4/18

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring a Studio A2 performance by Absofacto, the art-pop band led by Jonathan Vizger. Jon lives these days in L.A., but spent many years in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area playing in his previous bands Mason Proper and Hollow & Akimbo. Absofacto recently released the four-song EP "Thousand Peaces" for Atlantic Records. Also in the mix this Sunday will be new songs by Belly, Lake Street Dive and Ry Cooder.
