Fine Tuning preview: 6/21/20

This Sunday in the album spotlight I'll be featuring "Rough and Rowdy Ways," the magnificent new studio recording by Bob Dylan. This is Dylan's first collection of original material since 2012's "Tempest," and his three albums in between this new one and "Tempest" featured his takes on the Great American Songbook.
In a new interview with historian and journalist Douglas Brinkley for The New York Times, Dylan says that his songwriting process these days is done in kind of a trance state. "The lyrics are the real thing, tangible, they’re not metaphors," says Dylan. "The songs seem to know themselves and they know that I can sing them, vocally and rhythmically. They kind of write themselves and count on me to sing them." Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. on ann arbor's 107one.
