Fine Tuning preview: 1/28/24

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring singer-songwriter Sam Burton's new album "Dear Departed," plus I'll have birthday tributes to Bettye LaVette, Dave Davies and Lloyd Cole. This afternoon on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "Maximum Swing," a previously unreleased live album by the legendary jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery. Also in the mix will be new music by Brittany Howard, Waxahatchee, Hurray for the Riff Raff and The Smile (featuring Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood). Fine Tuning preview: 1/7/24

On the first Fine Tuning of 2024 I'll pay tribute to the legendary jazz pianist and vocalist Les McCann, who died on December 29th at the age of 88. A forefather of the jazz soul genre, McCann is best known for his live version of the song "Compared to What," recorded in 1969 at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
