Fine Tuning Preview: 4/30/17

This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring songs from "Volume 1" by the indie-rock supergroup BNQT. BNQT (pronounced 'banquet') features Mike Pulido of Midlake, Band of Horses’ Ben Bridwell, Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand, Travis’ Fran Healy, and Jason Lytle of Grandaddy. Also in the mix will be new tunes from John Mellencamp and Trombone Shorty, a tribute to film director Jonathan Demme (who died on April 26 at the age of 73) and a 100th birthday tribute to the First Lady of Song, Ella Fitzgerald (Ella would have turned 100 on April 25). Fine Tuning Preview: 4/23/17

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll put the album spotlight on "Americana," the first album of new songs in almost ten years from ex-Kinks frontman Ray Davies. A companion piece to Davies' 2013 memoir of the same name, "Americana" notably features the Jayhawks serving as Ray's back-up band.
