This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning will be "Vide Noir," the ambitious new release by Lord Huron, the inventive indie-rock band led by Okemos, Michigan native Ben Schneider. This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring the 50th Anniversary edition of "Forever Changes" by Love. Overlooked at the time of its original release in late 1967, this magnificent work is now widely acknowledged as one of the greatest albums of all time. Fine Tuning preview: 4/15/18
Critics are raving about "Freedom," the latest release from the indie-rock band Amen Dunes, led by singer-songwriter Damon McMahon. The online magazine Pitchfork gives the album an impressive rating of 8.6 (out of 10), and GQ Magazine calls it the best album of 2018 (so far). I love "Freedom" as well and will have it in the album spotlight this Sunday on my Fine Tuning program. Also in the mix will be new music by Neko Case, Brazilian Girls and Ray LaMontagne, plus songs from brand new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Nina Simone and Dire Straits. This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "The Tree of Forgiveness," John Prine's first recording of new songs in 13 years. The legendary singer-songwriter, one of this year's headliners at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, is in peak form on his magnificent new album, which includes contributions from special guests Brandi Carlile and Jason Isbell.
