Fine Tuning preview: 12/2/18

This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring selections from the new Hiss Golden Messenger box set "Devotion: Songs About Rivers and Spirits and Children." HGM is led by the brilliant singer-songwriter MC Taylor, and "Devotion" includes remastered versions of his earlier albums "Poor Moon," "Haw" and "Bad Debt," plus an album of rarities entitled "Virgo Fool." This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "Broken Politics," the powerful, personal and fearless new release from singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry. Also in the mix will be new music by JD McPherson and Sunflower Bean, plus a birthday tribute to the late, great drummer Al Jackson, Jr. (of Booker T. & the M.G.'s fame). Fine Tuning preview: 11/18/18

In the album spotlight this Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring tracks from the 50th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition of the White Album by the Beatles, featuring four hours (!) of previously unreleased material along with the 2018 remix of the original double-album, which was done by Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George Martin. Also in the mix will be tunes by Echo & the Bunnymen to get you in the mood for their upcoming 11/23 show at the Fillmore, plus a 77th birthday tribute to New Orleans legend Dr. John. 'Tis the season for major reissues! This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring the magnificent 50th anniversary reissue of "The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society," the final release done by the original lineup of the Kinks and one of the band's very finest. Fine Tuning preview: 11/4/18

This Sunday in the album spotlight on Fine Tuning will be Bob Dylan's "More Blood, More Tracks: The Bootleg Series Vol. 14." This is the one we've been waiting for --- the release that tracks the recording sessions for Dylan's landmark 1975 album “Blood On the Tracks.” Even beyond its fascinating and contorted studio history, the album holds a unique allure for listeners. The powerful songs Dylan brought to the table, spawned in no small measure by a failing marriage, were fraught with intense emotion, and listeners embraced the material on a deeply personal level, thrusting the record to No. 1 on the national charts. Also in the mix will be a 75th birthday tribute to Joni Mitchell, plus new music from Steve Gunn, John Hiatt and Hiss Golden Messenger.
