Fine Tuning preview: 9/29/24

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring Amy Helm's beautiful new album "Silver City," just released on Sun Records. Amy is the daughter of The Band's legendary drummer and vocalist Levon Helm, and her new album is filled with soulful and reflective songs that sound just about perfect for the start of fall. Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. on ann arbor's 107one.

Fine Tuning: 9/22/24

Nick Lowe wrote the classic song "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding)," and he's back with "Indoor Safari," his first album in over a decade. I'll put that in the album spotlight on this Sunday's Fine Tuning, plus I'll do a birthday tribute to Ray Charles and play something brand new by Suzanne Vega! Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. on ann arbor's 107one.

Fine Tuning preview: 9/8/24

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "Woodland," the poignant and beautiful new album by Gillian Welch & David Rawlings. The album is named after the duo's studio in Nashville, which was almost destroyed by a tornado in March of 2020. The pair, who have been making music together for decades, won a Grammy for best folk album in 2021 for the covers album they recorded in the immediate aftermath ("All the Good Times Are Past & Gone"). "Woodland" is their first set of original songs in many years, and easily one of the best things I have heard so far in 2024!
