Fine Tuning preview: 4/6/25

Tomorrow's Fine Tuning program is dedicated to the memory of my beloved mom, Helen Bandyke, who passed away peacefully on March 29th, her 104th birthday. I was truly blessed and fortunate to have a mom who was so supportive and devoted! This picture of us was taken by my wife Kim Silarski when we took mom out for lunch at M & M Cafe in Dearborn to celebrate her 94th birthday. To give you a little perspective about Helen's extraordinarily long life, she was born right around the time the very first radio station began broadcasting in Michigan!

In the album spotlight on the show I'll feature "That's the Price of Loving Me." the magnificent new recording by Dean Wareham, plus the latest from Lord Huron, Suzanne Vega and Throwing Muses. Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. on ann arbor's 107one.

Fine Tuning preview: 3/9/25

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I will be featuring the final album by The Chills, the New Zealand indie-rock band led from start to finish by singer-songwriter Martin Phillipps. Martin died unexpectedly last year at the age of 61, but was able to complete most of the tracks included on "Spring Board: The Early Unrecorded Songs," where he reimagined tunes from the band's early years. "Spring Board" was completed by the final iteration of the Chills, with contributions from the likes of Neil Finn of Crowded House and Hollie Fullbrook of Tiny Ruins. This album is truly special...I hope you can join me! Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to p.m. on ann arbor's 107one.
