Fine Tuning preview: 10/2/22

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring the music of British singer-songwriter Beth Orton. After playing a bunch of songs from earlier in her career I'll focus on Beth's brand new release "Weather Alive," which critics from the New York Times and Pitchfork are calling the finest album she's ever done! I'll also be paying tribute to drummer and composer Anton Fier, who died on September 21st at the age of 66. Anton played on early albums by the Lounge Lizards and the Feelies, and also co-founded the Golden Palominos.  Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. on ann arbor's 107one.

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll devote 99.9% of the show to Roxy Music, in celebration of the iconic band's 50th anniversary tour! Fine Tuning preview: 8/28/22

This Sunday on Fine Tuning I'll be featuring "Heartmind," the exquisite new studio album from singer-songwriter Cass McCombs. In his review of the album for the Wall Street Journal, music critic Mark Richardson says that "Heartmind" is an arresting collection of songs that tackles pain and uncertainty with humor and grace. I couldn't agree more! Also in the mix on FT this Sunday will be a 73rd birthday tribute to Hugh Cornwell of the Stranglers, plus a tribute to Jerry Allison, drummer for Buddy Holly's band the Crickets. Alison died on August 22nd at the age of 82. Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. on ann arbor's 107one.

Fine Tuning preview: 8/21/22

I'm delighted to feature "Not About to Die," a collection of Wire's 1977-1978 studio demos, on Fine Tuning this weekend. Widely bootlegged decades ago but never officially released until now, "Not About to Die" shows the band slowly moving away from the punk rock sound of their incisive debut album "Pink Flag." It's a fascinating document from one of my favorite bands in the known universe. Also in the mix will be new songs from Cass McCombs, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Broken Bells, plus birthday tributes to John Lee Hooker and Elvis Costello. Fine Tuning: Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. on ann arbor's 107one.
